Welcome To Room 213!

Hello! I would like to personally welcome you and your scholar to a fun and invigorating year of learning. About Ms. Holmes

I have been working for Minneapolis Public Schools for about 10 years, and Bethune Community School for four years. I absolutely love what I do, and truly enjoy facilitating positive choices and academic learning with my scholars.  In my spare time, I also enjoy watching football and spending time with friends and family, especially my baby nephew.

Everyday, students will be participating in a rigorous Reading, Math and Science Curriculum.  This agenda will also be supplemented with Media, Music, Physical Education and Art classes.  We will be participating and engaging in 120 minutes of Reading and Writing, 90 minutes of Mathematics, and 30 minutes of Social-Emotional Learning, daily.  Scholars will also be

Classroom Behavior Plan

We use the blue, green, yellow, red system in our classroom. Each day every student begins on green. Once a student begins to make a negative choice they are placed on yellow. Consequently, if the behavior continues then they are moved to red, and will receive an opportunity to, participate in positive choice making in order to facilitate a consistent blue or green performance at Bethune Community School.

Communication

Finally, I want you to know that one of my most important goals this year is to keep the lines of communication open with you. Please don’t hesitate to contact me directly via phone, by calling the school, or you may also feel free to email me at Faiza.bharmal@mpls.k12.mn.us, if you have any questions or concerns during the school year.  I welcome your thoughts and questions and am looking forward to working together to make your fifth grade scholar successful!
