OUR MISSION STATEMENT:

Bethune Community School is committed to high achievement for every child using strategies that include integrating the arts and technology into the curriculum.

Students learn in a positive, orderly and safe climate that builds a strong sense of community. Students from every culture and background work together in a respectful environment that fosters self-confidence and understanding of others.

The school recognizes the importance of family and community partnerships and is dedicated to being a support center for the neighborhood.

OFFICE HOURS: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

SCHOOL HOURS (High 5 through 5th Grade): 9:10 a.m. - 3:40 p.m.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • A balanced literacy program that provides whole-group instruction and targeted small-group instruction in both reading and writing
  • Targeted instruction in reading and math based on individual student needs
  • Community partnerships with Phyllis Wheatley Community Center, Assistance League, Minnesota Reading Corps, Washburn Center for Children, Stages Theatre, Heritage Park, Second Harvest Heartland, Target, The Sheridan Story and Playworks
  • Science as a specialist class
  • Extended Learning program that provides additional support in reading and math, as well as enrichment activities
